Since then, Dubsado evolved into an app that automates all repetitive business admin tasks. ClickUp.com was co-founded in 2017 by Alex Yurkowski and Zeb Evans because they got tired of project management across multiple apps while building a Craigslist competitor. So they set out to build a tool that could do it all.

It offers great customization through a variety of custom fields, project views, and widgets for creating highly visual dashboards. It also comes with many templates, integrations, and task automation samples to simplify your workflow. Beyond project management, ClickUp also has extra features such as Docs, Whiteboards, and others to support team productivity. It tries to do it all, which unintentionally makes it very complex to set up and get started, especially for users without technical knowledge.

All of this means ClickUp is an extremely powerful productivity platform. But, because of the complexity, it’s best for enterprises with large teams who need to handle internal business processes and also collaborate on complex, inter-departmental projects.

Anywhere is the most user-friendly, ClickUp feels overwhelming, and Dubsado is the hardest to navigate.

Dubsado’s interface is confusing. It’s hard to understand what each button does and how its features work together. If you’re a new user, you’ll find it difficult to navigate and get used to without watching hours of training videos.

ClickUp's goal to be an all-in-one productivity tool is reflected in the tons of features and options it gives you. However, this results in an overly busy and cluttered interface, making it difficult to learn and use. While the onboarding process is helpful, it’s not enough to get started comfortably. That’s why most teams end up hiring ClickUp consultants to set up their account and train team members to use the platform correctly. That makes the process even longer and more expensive.

Anywhere, unlike ClickUp, doesn’t overwhelm users with non-essential features since it's an specialized project management tool for agencies and freelancers. Its interface is much cleaner, with key icons neatly organized at the top and the section navigation on the left. Additionally, the sharp contrast of the UI makes it easy to visualize different sections of your project space.

New users need little to no support to get started. They can choose to take a simple 6-step onboarding process to get up to speed quickly and get started with planning their projects in only a few minutes.

Anywhere covers all the core functionality, ClickUp has the most extensive features, while Dubsado is extremely limited.

Dubsado’s features make it a task management system at best. You can either create stand-alone tasks or organize them on a Kanban-style board — if your work relies heavily on project management, Dubsado won’t meet your needs.

Unlike Dubsado, Anywhere is built for project management. You can create workspaces for different clients, and create multiple project boards within these workspaces. Project boards are equipped with:

The only way you can collaborate with team members in Dubsado is by leaving text-based comments under tasks. 

On the other hand, you can communicate with clients via email and a client portal. If you send emails from Dubsado to your clients, not only do clients receive them in their inboxes, they can also view your emails via the client portal.

ClickUp’s features make it best for team communication & collaboration.

The only way you can involve clients in ClickUp is by inviting them to collaborate on a specific project board or view.

On the flip side, ClickUp has a variety of features to support team communication. You can include voice and screen recordings in your comments, and also start a Zoom meeting. One downside is that the comments section is unorganized. You can easily lose track of comments in a cloud of activity logs. 

Outside the comments section, ClickUp has a dedicated chat space where you can hold project-related conversations that may not necessarily fit under a specific task. 

Anywhere’s extensive features make it best for both team and client communication & collaboration.

Unlike ClickUp, Anywhere has an organized comment space that’s separate from the activity log. You can easily share screen recordings with the Loom feature. The comment section is divided into four main sections.

  • Comments: Add task-specific comments.
  • Decisions: Mark comments as decisions to be noted or implemented.
  • Blockers: Mark comments as blockers to handle bottlenecks.
  • Files: Add files relevant to the task.

Anywhere, similar to ClickUp, allows you to invite clients to specific projects and has a dedicated chat space for project-related discussions. Additionally, this chat space has been designed to easily include clients in ongoing discussions by toggling the private mode on or off. 

Anywhere has an updates section for sharing regular progress updates with clients, accessible via their client portal. This eliminates scattered updates shared via text, email, and other channels, and stores all updates in one space. You can customize your updates section with text blocks and widgets, with details about tasks at different stages of completion.

Finally, Anywhere has a unique inbox feature, which allows team members to have direct 1-on-1 conversations with each other or with clients.

Anywhere has a free 7-day trial across all paid plans — no credit card required. Their Start plan costs only $9.99 a month for up to 10 users flat.

Dubsado is the most affordable, however, it lacks features.

Dubsado has only two pricing plans, which allow you to add unlimited clients. However, each plan allows for a maximum of 3 users, with the option of getting more by paying extra. 4-10 users cost an additional fixed fee of $25/month. 11-20 users cost an extra $45/month and for 20-30 users, you pay an extra $60/month.

Event though it costs less, keep in mind that Dubsado doesn’t have great project management features. That’s why users usually use it for general business management and invest in dedicated project management software in parallel.

Anywhere’s starter plan gives unlimited access to restricted features in ClickUp’s business plans.
